Chevy & GMC Truck Parts

Chevy and GMC truck parts

General Motors trucks share most of their platform between Chevrolet and GMC, which is good news for parts hunters: a Silverado component often fits the matching Sierra, and vice versa. This section covers common replacement and upgrade parts for Silverado and Sierra 1500 through 3500HD trucks, plus SUVs like Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon that share the same underpinnings.

Classic and OBS trucks

Square body C10 and K10 trucks from 1968-1972 onward, and the OBS trucks of 1988-1998, remain hugely popular. Long beds, grilles, front bumpers, and complete frame and suspension assemblies are still in circulation, though clean sheet metal gets harder to find every year. GM has also reduced support for some replacement parts on earlier model years, which pushes owners toward quality used and reproduction sources.

Modern Silverado and Sierra

For 2014 and newer trucks, the most replaced exterior items are front bumpers, chrome bumper assemblies, grilles, taillights, and painted tow mirrors. Bed replacements for 2008-2013 short bed Silverados are common after rust or accident damage. Soft folding tonneau covers and rail-mounted bed covers are the leading cargo upgrades, covered in detail in our tonneau cover guide.

Duramax diesel platforms

The Duramax diesel family spans LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, and the current L5P. Each generation has its own known issues and upgrade paths, from injectors on early trucks to turbo and tuning options on later ones. Complete engine assemblies, injectors, and control modules are covered in the diesel performance section.

Suspension work is also popular on these trucks: leveling kits paired with upgraded shocks and larger tires are one of the most common builds. Read the leveling kit guide before you buy.
